Weed Science Division

The division conducts research and development activities on weed management in vegetables and root and tuber crops. It also focuses on introducing environmentally friendly integrated weed management strategies and innovative technologies to ensure sustainable weed management

Research and Publications

Research and Publications of the Weed Science Division

  • Identification of optimum weed management practices for weed suppression and yield enhancement in vegetables, root and tuber crops
  • Identification of pre-harvest weed management options to facilitate mechanical harvesting of seed potato
  • Field surveys to collect information on weed abundance, newly emerging weeds and weed related issues in vegetables, roots & tuber crops, fruits and other field crops

  • Technology dissemination through publications and mass media
  • Diagnosis of weed species and provision of appropriate management recommendations
  • Bio-efficacy evaluation of new herbicide products and provision of recommendations
  • Provides industrial training and facilitates final-year research projects for students of agriculture schools and  university students.
