Stakeholder Meeting on Agricultural Mechanization in Sri Lanka

The Department of Agriculture successfully conducted the Stakeholder Meeting on Agricultural Mechanization in Sri Lanka on 30th June 2025 at NAICC, Gannoruwa, under the theme: “Empowering Farmers Through Practical and Inclusive Mechanization.”

This important national event brought together a diverse group of participants, including policymakers, government agencies, private sector representatives, farm machinery manufacturers, agricultural innovators, academic and research institutions, development partners, and farmer organizations. The objective was to create a collaborative platform for advancing agricultural mechanization in the country through shared expertise and strategic partnerships.

Key focus areas included:

  • Promotion of appropriate and innovative mechanization technologies
  • Strengthening public-private collaborations in machinery supply and services
  • Capacity building and extension for effective technology adoption
  • Inclusive mechanization strategies for smallholder and marginal farmers
  • Policy gaps and operational challenges in the mechanization value chain

The active participation of local innovators and farm machinery manufacturers added significant value to the discussions by showcasing new technologies, prototypes, and customized solutions suited for Sri Lankan agriculture.
