The inaugural National Ceremony of the Sustainable Home Garden Development Program – 2021 conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture to benefit 1.2 million urban and semi-urban families to ensure food security was held on 01st November 2021 at the Plant Genetic Resource Center, Gannoruwa under the patronage of the Hon. Minister of Agriculture. 100 farmer families were provided with a seed kit consisting of 07 varieties of crops, a set of agriculturalinstruments and a packet of organic fertilizer.
Simultaneously, this program was launched in 572 Agrarian Development Regional Offices island wide and the Saubhagya Home Gardening Week has been declared from 01.11.2021 to 07.11.2021.
