The Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the Hatton National Bank (HNB) Agribusiness Unit, recently hosted a successful awareness programme for Sri Lanka Good Agricultural Practices (SL-GAP) certified agripreneurs and value-added food processors.

Held at the National Agriculture Information and Communication Centre (NAICC) in Peradeniya, the workshop drew nearly 75 entrepreneurs engaged in both primary production and agro-processing. The session aimed to equip participants with insights into the latest developments in agribusiness, helping them scale and modernize their business operations.

The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Mr. P. Sisira Kumara, Director Extension and Training, Department of Agriculture; Mr. Deepal Udukumbura, Vice President and Head of Agribusiness at HNB; and Mr. A.S.M. Roshan, Assistant Director of Agribusiness. Additionally, Public Health Inspector (PHI) for Kandy, Mr. W.G.I.H. Alwis, delivered an essential presentation on food safety and maintaining quality standards.
The collaborative initiative served as a vital platform for knowledge sharing, promoting industry best practices, and driving sustainable growth within Sri Lanka’s agribusiness sector.
