A discussion on measures to be taken regarding yellowing of leaves and stunted growth in paddy

A discussion on the condition of yellowing of leaves and stunted growth of paddy cultivation reported from different areas of the island and the future measures to be taken in this reward was held at Department of Agriculture under the guidance of Miss P. Malathi, Director General of Agriculture.

Currently working and past expert officers of Department of Agriculture, University professors, officials representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Mahaweli Authority, Department of Agrarian Services, Department of Irrigation were participated in this discussion.

Dr. Jayantha Senanayake, Director of the Rice Research and Development Institute, explained the current situation of rice cultivation in the island. The primary objective of this discussion was to strengthen awareness and training of farmers regarding the measures to be taken and plan for the success of the upcoming 2023 yala season in the face of these problems.
