PLANT BREEDING DIVISION

Achieve excellence in Plant Breeding Research and Development on other Field crops and Horticulture crops in Northern Region. Develop improved varieties of regionally important field crops and conduct investigations in plant breeding and allied disciplines related to crop improvement.

ACTIVITIES OF PLANT BREEDING DIVISION
  • Develop high yielding, biotic and abiotic stress tolerance varieties of regionally important field crops with preferable agronomic traits.
  • Collection and conservation of germplasms of related crop species.
  • Evaluation of germplasms and conducts genetic studies related to crop improvements.
  • Conduct National Coordinated Varietal trials of regionally important food crops.
  • Production of breeder seeds.
