27th Annual General Meeting of the Department of Agriculture ASDA 2025
The 27th Annual General Meeting of the Department of Agriculture was held on 12.09.2025 at the Gannoruwa Agriculture Premises.
Presentations were made in the technical session on new achievement and new agro-technological innovations carried-out by various institutions of Department of Agriculture during the past years. Accordingly, 26 research papers, 6 short communication papers, 6 posters, and 7 research news were published.
The Honorable Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Hon. Namal Karunaratne, State Minister of Lands and Irrigation, Hon. Susil Ranasinghe and Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Lands and Irrigation, D. P. Wickremesinghe participated, while officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Departments, University professors, representatives from the private and public sectors related to agriculture and representatives associated with foreign projects participated in this conference.
North Central Provincial Director Dr. A.M.B.N. Abeysinghe was awarded the Best Agriculturist of the Year, while Chief Agronomist (Breeding) Dr.K.N. Kannangara was awarded the Best Agriculture Scientist of the Year, while the Eminent Agriculturist, the lifetime achievement award was presented to former Additional Director General (Research), Dr. W.M.A.D.B. Wickramasinghe.
