The 23rd Annual symposium of the Department of Agriculture was held on 12.17.2021 at the Gannoruwa National Plant Genetic Resource Center and the National Agriculture Information and Communication Centre under the patronage of the Hon. Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

Hon. State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa, Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture Prof. Udith Jayasinghe, Director General of Agriculture Dr. Ajantha de Silva and a number of officials representing the Department of Agriculture and Universities participated in this event. Officials of the Department of Agriculture from all over the island had the opportunity to participate in this event through zoom technology and the program was broadcast live through the official social media of the Department of Agriculture.

Presentations of new research findings of various research sectors of the Department of Agriculture and launching of the official website of ASDA that was created by the National Agricultural Information and Communication Centre were among the main events. Awards presented to Best Agriculturist, Best scientist, promising Agriculturist, promising scientist, Best Research Paper.  The Lifetime Achievements Award of 2021 – Eminent Agriculturist of the country was presented to Mr K.E. Karunathilaka by the Minister.
