Hybrid Rice

Development of hybrid rice is one of the options to identify the high yielding varieties than inbred rice varieties. Under this programme hybrid vigor is utilized to achieve yield advantage. Therefore, research is carried out to develop better parental lines and superior hybrid combinations to achieve the above objectives.

  • Supply the F1 seeds of hybrid for farmers in order to popularize the hybrid rice
  • Dissemination of F1 seed production technology for hybrid seed producers
  • Training and field level practical programmes on hybrid rice variety development and seed production are being conducted for university students, diploma student and school children
