Adaptive Research Centre, Vavuniya, Department of Agriculture established early 80th decades aiming provides supporting services to the main Agriculture Research Institutes and Research Centers. The Adaptive Research Centre situated about 2 km away from Vavuniya town towards Jaffna near A9 Road. Adaptive Research Centre, Vavuniya presently under controlling by Field Crop Research and Development Institute (FCRDI) Mahailuppallama and supervising by Regional Agriculture Research and Development Centre (RARDC) Kilinochchi.

Achieve excellence in research and development on other field crops and horticulture crops in northern region.

Our Mission

Planning and Implementing research on agriculture crops based on the farmer needs to develop technical packages for solving demands of northern regional farmers and to increase production and quality of agricultural producers to attend self-sufficiency and commercial purpose.

  • Conducting National Coordinating Variety Testing Trails. (OFC/ Paddy/ Vegetable etc)
  • Conducting Variety Adaptive Trails ( OFC/ Paddy/Vegetable etc) at Vavuniya District.
  • Supporting  the Technology Development Research When request.
  • Conservation Germplasm of future importance.
  • Providing technologies /Advice to the farmers regarding Agriculture.
