In 2017 The Central Agriculture Library of the Department of Agriculture was hand over to the National Agriculture Information and Communication Centre, Gannoruwa with the mission to Creating an agricultural knowledge society through the preservation of Library publications, encouraging the utilization of information and communication technology for an effective library service and Easy access of the DOA videos.

Library Services
Current Awareness Services
Library members are regularly informed about the recent acquisitions in the library. A list of “ New Arrivals” is sent to the library users by e -mail on regular basis
Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)
Keeping in view the area of interest of the library members, selected material is provided to them in order to keep them abreast of the lasted knowledge in their field
Reader Services & Reference Services
Effective indexing methodology for easy access to the available agriculture information in the library through lending and reference of books
This service is to save all the agricultural videos produced by DOA. Audience can download and copy down their required videos from our digital video library
Inter Library Loan Services
Material that are not held by Central Agriculture Library might be borrowed temporarily from other libraries on Inter Library loan basis. To avail this facility, user need to submit their demands to the library.

Digital conversion of backlog of all agriculture related historical and important documents and publications which are published by DOA and presently available in the library and Document management system using IT software and hardware
Literature Survey
A literature review is a comprehensive summary of previous research on a topic. The literature review surveys scholarly articles, books, and other sources relevant to a particular area of research
Printing, Scanning and Copying Services
Printing, Scanning and photocopying facility is available with the library. User can get the photocopy of required information from reference materials (Like reference book, encyclopedias, dictionaries journals and magazines etc.)
Audio/Visual Service
Library members can utilize audio visual resources (agriculture related videos produce by DOA) available in library. To facilitate the users, necessary equipment has been provided for this purpose. Library staff also extends help to the members in using these resources.
Providing library training
The Central Library will provide annual and semi-annual training for students studying library science.
Information Retrieval
Exploration strategies required for research should be determined and the exploration topic required should be identified. The basis on which the library material is identified must be determined. All facilities for information retrieval should be provided to the readers.
Referral Service
Recommend other libraries suitable for obtaining resources and services if the required correct information is not available in the library as per the reader queries and take action to meet the information requirements from them.
